THE SALTMARSH HALF MARATHON

The Saltmarsh Half Marathon covers 13.1 miles along the coastal path following the River Crouch from Marsh Farm, South Woodham Ferrers to Burnham-on-Crouch finishing in the beautiful Riverside Park. The event is open to runners and walkers of all abilities who want a rural trail challenge.

ENTRY FEE

The Saltmarsh Half Marathon - Saturday 5th October 2019

Individual runner or walker - £25 entry fee, including transport from the finish, Burnham Riverside, back to the start, Marsh Farm, if required.

All participants must be 18 years of age or over on Saturday 5th October 2019. Participants must be in good health and be capable of completing the 13.1 mile route within 4.5 hours at a minimum average speed of 3 mph. Advice should be sought if you are unsure of your capabilities.

Coastal Path

THE EVENT

The Saltmarsh Half Marathon is open to runners and walkers. Participants will cover 13.1 miles of coastal trail along the banks of the River Crouch, part of the of the fantastic Saltmarsh Coast Trail.

From South Woodham Ferrers you will pass the marinas of North Fambridge and Althorne and the inviting vineyards of the Crouch Valley on your way to Burnham-on-Crouch and the beautiful Riverside Park.

This is a trail challenge that will give you a truely unique experience.

THE ROUTE

SOUTH WOODHAM FERRERS TO NORTH FAMBRIDGE 5 MILES

The trail starts in the courtyard at Marsh Farm, South Woodham Ferrers and heads onto the seawall near Creekview Road, from there on the route follows the River Crouch to North Fambridge. You will pass Blue House Farm nature reserve and the five hundred year old Ferry Boat Inn.

NORTH FAMBRIDGE TO BURNHAM ON CROUCH 8.1 MILES

This section offers expansive views of the River Crouch from the heady heights of the 'Burnham Cliffs' and takes you past Bridgemarsh Island and the peaceful, undisturbed settlement of Creeksea. Finally reaching Burnham's Riverside Park where the finish will be ready and waiting.
