RESULTS

Here at Saltmarsh HQ we are not so keen on the words winners and losers. We think all our Saltmarshers are equally magnificent and bonkers, just for showing up. But if it is important to you, it is important to us. So we try our best to provide accurate results.

2018 THE YEAR OF TWO HALFS

Saltmarsh75 - first solo finisher

Year six of Saltmarsh75. This year we welcomed the return of our regulars and veterans, along with a new crop of saltmarshes.

Well it would not be Saltmarsh Saturday without a little rain, but boy did it rain. All but the very fastest got a thorough soaking well in to the night.

But if you were able to battle through and dry out, Sunday was a different kettle of fish. Clear skies, cool breeze meant record-breaking times (or we think so, we don’t really keep good records).

Saltmarsh newbie Tim was the first solo runner into Salcott in 11hours 09mins beaten only by the fantastic efforts of relay teams; A Running Joke, Custard Cream, and MEC 1.

We would also like to thank this year’s sponsors EJ Taylor for their support and for fielding a cracking relay team.

Sunday ended with all home safely when our three final walkers crossed the line after 26hours walking!

2017 THE FIFTH EVER SALTMARSH

A record number of finishers completed the distance in 2017, but special credit needs to go to 5 regulars that all completed their 5th Saltmarsh. For Colin Harper (pictured) the Saltmarsh was his first multi-day Ultra back when we started in 2013 and so it seemed particularly fitting that he was first to cross the line in 2017 in a time of 11 hours 50 minutes.  James Haskey-Jones and Andy Layley were both close behind Colin. Gavin Brown and Javier Rubio are our only walkers to have completed 5 events in doing so, they've also lifted the spirits of many other walkers during those last few stages. This year Javier has made a youtube slideshow of the event which can be found here.

First woman was Jackie Stretton who completed her second Saltmarsh and was 4th overall.  Impressive running!

Each year we are blown away by the saltmarsh communities determination to get complete the course. Not everyone makes it but everyone acheives something quite special.

As ever we couldn't run this event without the support provided by our event team, marshalls, Rover Rescue, Essex Raynet, EDMS Medical all of our checkpoint venues.  THANK YOU EVERYONE.

Legendary Colin
